SSCC Basic Peace Officers complete training- The cadets of Southern State Community College’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held Dec. 17 at the college’s Fayette СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Washington Court House.
SSCC Theatre hosts Jan. 17 auditions for "Almost, Maine"- Auditions for SSCC Theatre’s spring production of John Cariani’s "Almost, Maine" will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
Southern State Singers to present Dec. 15 concert- The Southern State Singers will present their 15th annual Christmas concert 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 234 N. High St., Hillsboro.
SSCC Student Government awards first scholarship- The Southern State Community College Foundation is pleased to award the first Student Government Association (SGA) scholarship to BG Prater of Hillsboro, a second-year student at Southern State.

Southern State hosts community holiday events- The Southern State Community Band and the Southern State Singers will present a combined Holiday Concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the college’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
Grow! Highland County awarded for volunteer efforts- The resource board members of Grow! Highland County received an Excellence in Volunteerism Runner Up Award from the Ohio Economic Development Association (OEDA).
SSCC pottery students hosting Nov. 19 show and sale- Students enrolled in ceramics classes at Southern State Community College are hosting a Pottery Students Showcase & Sale from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Learning Resources Center on the college’s South СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
SSCC Theatre presents "Our Town" Nov. 15-17- SSCC Theatre proudly presents Thornton Wilder’s "Our Town," playing Nov. 15-17 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.

SSCC band to perform Nov. 10 Veterans Day concert- The Southern State Community Band will honor our nation's veterans with a Veterans Day concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
U.S. Bank contributes to SSCC Foundation- U.S. Bank has been a significant contributor to Southern State, exceeding $15,000 in donations and resulting in numerous СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø to Southern State students.
SSCC offers short-term workforce training workshops- New short-term workforce training workshops—in Food Safety, СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Inspection, and Mold Inspection—are being offered through Southern State Community College.

Free seminar on Human Trafficking at SSCC on Nov. 1- "An Overview of Human Trafficking" will be held 1–3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, on Southern State Community College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
SSCC hosts Paranormal Investigators for Oct. 29 event- An Ohio group known as Paranormal Scientific Investigators (PSI) will present a free special event 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 in the Learning Resources Center on Southern State Community College’s Fayette СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
Master Gardeners plan workshops at SSCC South СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø- The Brown County Master Gardeners will present a series of educational workshops and presentations on Southern State Community College’s South СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
SSCC’s Mt. Orab СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø on track to open August 2014- Its steel framework soundly in place, Southern State Community College#8217;s Mt. Orab СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø is right on schedule to open August 2014.

- Southern State Community College announces the opening of a new GED preparation site in Peebles.
Chad Strahler named softball coach at Southern State- Chad Strahler, a former head coach at Miami Trace High School, has been hired as the women’s softball head coach at Southern State Community College.
SSCC Patri-Tots earns state award for excellence- In recognition of excellence and an ongoing commitment to children, the Patri-Tots Learning Center on Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø (Hillsboro) of Southern State Community College has received a One-Star Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
SSCC plans Sept. 26 artist reception for Elaine Balsley- An exhibition featuring artist Elaine Balsley is currently on display in the Learning Resources Center (LRC) of Southern State Community College’s South СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.

SSCC Theatre season tickets on sale Sept. 2- Beginning Sept. 2, season tickets for SSCC Theatre’s 2013–14 season will be on sale. This season marks the 10th Anniversary Season with current director, Rainee Angles.
Thirty complete Southern State’s practical nursing program- The 47th class of Southern State Community College’s practical nursing program was honored during a special recognition ceremony held July 30 on the college’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Hillsboro.
Southern State offers Aug. 28 info session on dental, veterinary training- Southern State Community College is in partnership with Boston Reed College to provide short-term, classroom-based coursework in dental assistant and veterinary assistant training.
SSCC announces honors lists for summer semester- Southern State Community College has released its president’s and dean’s list for academic excellence for Spring Semester 2013.
SSCC info session Aug. 21 for degree offered in Manchester- Three local institutions have partnered to offer an Electromechanical Engineering degree in Manchester and those interested can learn more about it during an Aug. 21 drop-in informational session.
Southern State choir begins 15th season- The Southern State Singers will begin rehearsals for the 2013-14 season 6 p.m. Monday, August 26, in Room 107 of Southern State Community College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.

Southern State wins regional and national design awards- Southern State Community College’s Office of Communications was recognized for its new logo and marketing campaign by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR).

SSCC’s Adult Opportunity Center holds recognition celebration- Area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored June 14 at the 25th annual Adult Opportunity Center’s Recognition Celebration at Southern State Community College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Hillsboro.
SSCC info session July 9 for Adams County classes- Southern State Community College will host two informational sessions regarding college classes offered in Adams County.
Police donation supports Fayette County students- Washington C.H. Police Department Detective Ron Sockman presents a $2,000 check to support student СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø for Fayette County students attending Southern State.

- The Personnel Committee of the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in Room 411 of the college’s North СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
Info sessions on SSCC’s СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø & Mold Inspection classes- Through a partnership with Parker Training Services, Southern State Community College will provide continuing education programs in СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Inspection and Mold Inspection.
SSCC plans Appalachian Skills Camp from June 17–21- There are lots of summer camps, but only one like the Appalachian Skills Camp. Designed for students entering grades 4 and up, the 2013 Appalachian Skills Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, June 17–21, at Southern State Community College’s South СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
Grounds for Celebration: Work on New SSCC СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Begins- Passersby will soon notice a transformation taking place as a barren tract of land is prepped for the two-story, 50,000-square-foot complex of Southern State Community College’s newest campus.
Early Education students mark SSCC degree completion- Eleven students in Southern State Community College’s early education program completed their practicum experience and earned their associate of applied science degrees.

Adams County judge selected as SSCC commencement speaker- The Honorable Brett M. Spencer has been chosen to deliver the commencement address at Southern State Community College on May 3.
Southern State students inducted into PTK honor society- The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at an April 12 ceremony on the Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø of Southern State Community College.
24 complete Southern State’s practical nursing program- The 46th class of Southern State Community College’s practical nursing program was honored during a special recognition ceremony held March 28 on the college’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Hillsboro.

Regional high school students claim SSCC Art Showcase honors- The annual Appalachian Gateway Regional High School Art Showcase was held Feb. 28 on Southern State Community College’s South СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Fincastle, with students in Southern State’s region claiming honors for outstanding artistic talent.
SSCC Theatre presents 'Lend Me a Tenor' April 5–7- SSCC Theatre proudly presents Ken Ludwig’s "Lend Me a Tenor," playing 7:30 p.m. on April 5 and 6, and 3:30 p.m. on April 7, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
